Certainly didn’t know the Estorick Collection existed until this evening, a collection of modern Italian art, five minutes from Upper Street on Cannonbury Square.
They’ve got a Renato Guttuso exhibition on at the moment, fortunately there was a guided tour on for half an hour at 19.00 – don’t know about you but I love a guided tour, think you learn and appreciate the art fifty times more than without. Wasn’t a large exhibition but I really enjoyed it, good little hour outing. £5 admission and the tour was free. Excellent for when you fancy staying out of pubs and having a cheap cultured evening.
The free tour and late opening was part of the First Thursdays initiative that’s running across many London galleries, on the first Thursday of the month, offering up later opening times, free tours and events – what a great idea!
The Renato Guttuso exhibition is running until 4 April 2015.
