Vault Festival is held in the tunnels underneath Waterloo train station, yeah, that’s right, underneath the train tracks there’s another world going on!! – one that reminded me of the Super Mario Bros movie where John Leguizamo played Luigi, probably my favourite role for him after Tybalt in Baz’s Romeo + Juliet. Vault Festival showcases creative talent, be it plays, comedy shows, live music or something more whack-daddy.
It’s a great outing whatever, but I think particularly on a school night, as it doesn’t have to be too boozey or late night, but you’re still getting yourself out there! Last night we watched a musical comedy show called “We can make you Happy” by House of Blakewell, and what an entertaining evening we had, totally recommended, thanks Harry and Alice! The running time is around an hour, starting at 20.00, which I thought was bang-on, as it keeps you interested and also gives you time to check out the Vaults, have a drink, and still not be too late home…. ALTHOUGH, if you want to be late home, they’ve thought of that too, with a “Lates” programme of events open till 3.00.
There are five performance areas so different ticketed events can be running at the same time, then there are communal areas for getting a drink, having a sit down, and checking out live music on offer. The venue is really quite something in itself, definitely worth a punt on any show going, just to have the experience of it.
Vault Festival is in its fifth week of six, but you’ve still got time to join the party! “We can make you Happy” is running until the festival’s end on 8 March, tickets at £13.50.
