If my App “Beer in the Sun” were alive the Holborn Whippet would definitely be on its books. What the App does is provide people with info as to where they can find some outside sun soaked drinking room at a given time. With London having that metropolistic quality of being full of buildings, you can often find that the sun has vanished from the hot-spot you had in mind for 17.00 beers – especially at this time of year.
What’s key about the Whippet is that it’s right next to Bloomsbury Square, giving the sun some room to work its magic. The pub also has more room than the pavement to sprawl onto with the pedestrianised walkway of Sicilian Avenue lending its m2.
The pub has got the physique for even the discerning beer drinker with a flexing range of taps. Who likes saying Beavertown?!!! Yeah, that’s right.
So let’s hear it for not so obvious Holborn Whippet, geographically linchpinning workers from across town to a just right after-work drinking spot!
Holborn Whippet, Sicilian Avenue, London WC1A 2QH. Nearest Tube: Holborn
If you’re willing to step it up a notch, popped into nearby five star Rosewood Hotel’s Scarfs Bar on the way home for some live jazz, see previous post.
