Coffee Stop at the Royal Exchange

The Royal Exchange is a far scarier building from the outside than in.  With pricey boutique shops and a doorman, it’s easy to give the place a wide birth, but you can go inside for a look at the lovely building free of charge, and why, why, why would you ever meet someone “at Bank Station” with its near-on eight exits, when you can meet in the WARM embrace of the Royal Exchange, of which there’s only ONE.

A circular bar surrounded by tables and chairs dominates the downstairs level, with the same drinks menu plus further food options available on the cozy mezzanine level.  As my sister works nearby I sometimes pop in for a catch-up coffee or wine taking in the LCTs* and beautiful building.  Wine by the glass starts at £5 and a hot drink will set you back about £4.50…. why did I ever go coffee?! go wine!!

There’s little else that gives me as much pleasure as an atrium, architecturally speaking
